Welcome. This site is intended as a guide to new and amateur growers of cactus and succulents. There is information on pots, potting soil, soil amendments, pests, and propagation. Also, there's a photo gallery of some of the plants in my greenhouse as well as a listing of upcoming Cactus and Succulent Society events in California.
The collection of cactus and succulent plants can be quite rewarding. There are species that "grow like weeds", but there are quite a few that can be just as temperamental as any house or garden plant. They come from a range of climatic conditions, latitudes, and elevations that can make them a challenge to grow.

One item of note about this site and plant names. Some collectors get passionate about the botanical naming of plants. Stenocactus is a modern classification for Echinofossulocatus, but this site uses the latter. Plants classified as Notocactus often turn up being classified as Parodia somewhere else. So if you thought a plant on this site went by another name, in someone's eyes, you're probably right. Take a look at Desert-Tropicals if you're interested in seeing all the synonyms that exist for your plant of interest.
